Kongsberg–Cloud Simulation
The ecosystem consists of three interconnected parts:
The web-based simulation environment named Panorama, where the students train. This consists of maritime instruments and applications, such as GPS, RADAR, ECDIS.
The K-Sim Connect web portal, where students and instructors can organise, monitor, share and plan simulation training.
A cloud native back-end where simulators are launched on demand.
Each of this part required work on multiple levels: from information architecture, to navigation, to detailed UI and design systems work.
I was one of the two main designers connected to the project from the start in 2019. Having worked for Kongsberg Maritime since 2016, I coordinated and aligned the development of the new visual style, interface layout and design system, as well as contributing to the overall structure and ensuring consistency in the user experience.
As part of this role, I worked from concept development- sketching flows, creating alternatives for navigation and interaction, and developing low fidelity prototypes- to the final details of the interface -creating icons, developing a system for colours and components, and documenting design principles for the development team.
