IKEA Better Co-living

The Better Co-living project is an initiative from IKEA that focuses on applying their vision -’a better every day life for the many people’- into younger generations living in collectives.

This project started with a DIP (Design Driven Innovation Program), that explored new ways of applying brand values and resulted on a defined scope: generation Z, living in collectives.

I joined the project once the scope was defined, and the decision of making an application (among other touchpoints) had been made. I contributed on the stages of concept development, detailing and implementation of a beta version. During these phases my role was twofold: I was the project manager of a multidisciplinary team (developers, service, business and digital designers) and I was also the main digital designer, working with web, and app touchpoints.

More about the product:

The SVEN app is your collective’s sidekick, offering playful ways to communicate, organise, and simplify your life at home, while living with others. It contains a set of features to address the practical, emotional and social needs in collectives.

SVEN has been released as a Beta through IKEA.no, and bettercoliving.no. It has been downloaded by more than 600 users, mostly in Norway.

User testing of physical and digital prototypes

About the process:

In the process of defining and developing SVEN, we relied heavily on co-creation with our users. We had a group of testers that followed the process from start to finish, helping us iterate and improve the product. In parallel, to validate the insight, we had interviews and user testing sessions with new people at every stage of the process.
